Offensive:

The offensive is one of the “nine principles of warfare” mentioned as critical to success in warfare. No army ever beat an opposing army by remaining on the defensive. Defense is not one of the principles of warfare. To be successful an army has to go on the offense. Only than can it take back territory captured by the enemy or interrupt and destroy an enemy nation’s ability to wage war against them. What does this have to do with God or the Bible? We go on the offense by taking the “gospel” to the known world which Jesus instructed us to do in Mark 16:15-16. “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” The military term: offense or offensive is not in the Bible. There is, however, a word associated with this term you will find in the Bible 73 times; offend. I can guarantee you will offend some by sharing the gospel with them. Many are offended when you share your love of Jesus Christ. It is not easy to share the gospel in this world still under the control of Satan. In fact God says to “wait until you are endued with power (the Holy Ghost) from on high” to share. Evil spirits will want to come against you when you attempt to share the gospel. More will be offended than are open to the message of the Bible. I am excited about being in the LORD’s army. But Jesus had tough things to say about standing with him. Many don’t want to hear his NAME or anything about Him. This is very sad. In John 6:66 we see that many turned away from Him and walked with Him no more. If He was despised and rejected, will it be any different for us in these “end times?” We are that generation that will see His Promised Return. Time is short. It will be tragic to be saved, but never have led anyone into the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ once in eternity (Mark 8:38). Those souls we lead to him will call us blessed in eternity. Many believers go through their entire life, and while setting a good example never lead one soul to Christ for fear of offending others. There are many unbelievers who also set a good example. How does a person know what is behind one’s good example if we never open our mouth to testify on behalf of Jesus Christ? Go on the offense, Christian, for Christ before it is too late. Be bold like a soldier when you see an open door to share.
