The Enemy:

A soldier must know the enemy he fights. What does the Bible say about our enemy? A lot! Jesus said this in John 10:10 “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy…” The Bible clearly identifies this thief, satan, the devil. The thief has many other names, the deceiver, etc. The Bible says in Ephesians 6:12 “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Scripture clarifies scripture and tells us in many ways our primary foe is satan, his fallen angels and demons. Yes, he deceives and uses people, but that should not be our main focus. We need to use the spiritual tools that have been given to us to overcome the hidden forces that empower the people who contend against us directly and indirectly. Know your enemy is a primary principle of warfare and spiritual warfare too. God says through his prophet Hosea 4:6 “My people perish for lack of knowledge.” God is talking about spiritual knowledge here and the place to get it is the Bible.

Trust:

Who hasn’t been fooled by a liar. “Trust but verify!” Growing numbers put full trust in professionals and seldom turn to God and his promises. Having a degree: and experience doesn’t make a doctor, lawyer, politician, or educator trustworthy. They are wrong often. Don’t be fooled by their degree. God is the source of all truth, yet America has removed him from public life. The result is disaster. Jesus is the only way, John 14:6. God uses trust 195 times in scripture. It is clearly folly to put trust in any man. Unbiblical expectations are killers. The Bible warns: Look to God and put your trust in him alone. Jeremiah the great prophet said it this way: “Thus saith the LORD cursed be the man that trusteth in man and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.” (17:5) The late J. R. Church wrote a book, Prophecy in the Psalms. He convinced me. Starting in the twentieth century there has been a prophecy each year in the Book of Psalms predicting history that very year. The book is an eye opener showing the reader that God is in complete charge of history. Other men of God make similar arguments. I personally have witnessed many ancient prophecies come to pass in my lifetime. I am amazed at the time we live in. Psalm 118 (corresponding to 2018) uses ‘trust” in verse 8. “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.” This psalms entire focus is national Israel. At the end of this year will we be in the final week of Daniel’s 70 years? Spiritual blindness is a terrible thing. Current news headlines show prophecies coming true now. Michael Medved, a Jewish Seattle radio talk show host with a national audience, works tirelessly making fun of conspiracy theories. Yet he himself seems blind concerning biblical prophecy. He promotes himself as an expert on Christianity and American history. He really misjudged Sarah Palin, Mike Huckebee, Donald Trump and other strong Christians . He has a blind trust in the basic goodness of man, and relies way too much on reasoning and intellect while neglecting faith. He seems to be a spokesman for the status quo. The Bible clearly shows conspiracies are very real. That word is used 34 times by God in scripture . Many will be deceived through misplaced trust.
